The Lancaster Cooperative Preschool has a unique non-denominational preschool program. Our preschool was founded as a non-profit organization in 1969 by parents from the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lancaster who shared the core belief that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Parents help in the classroom by “co-oping” on a regular basis and by helping to run the preschool. Our children grow in mind, body and spirit as they are nurtured and encouraged by our teachers and other parents. Our preschool has been the only program in the area to be cooperatively run and creates a close-knit community of families through events and parent participation.
Our preschool creates a learning environment for children that affirms and promotes the inherent worth and dignity of every person; encourages justice, equity, and compassion in human relations; and respects the interdependent web of all existence of which we are all part.
