At Lancaster Cooperative Preschool, we believe in a child-centered approach to learning. We encourage children to explore, question, and discover at their own pace. Our teachers create a supportive and nurturing environment where children feel safe to take risks and make mistakes.
Fine Motor skills are emphasized through, puzzles, games and art. Children will have a variety of activities available at our table tops station. Gross motor skills develop as children run, climb, jump, hop and practice throwing and catching. Our Block and building station provides the children with a variety of materials to create and build with.
Cognitive growth is fostered with counting and classification games. Our sensory table allows students to explore measurement and comparisons with hands on learning and manipulation of different mediums.
Children's interactive language abilities are fostered through fantasy play in our dress-up area. Early literacy is encouraged by the print-rich environment, song singing and rhyming games, and during story-time.
Social emotional skills are a part of everything we do at this age. Children are provided with a daily routine that is predictable so that the child feels safe enough to practice these very important skills. The teachers and co-opers will work as guides to manage strong emotions and conflicts, with a goal to establish good classroom citizenship and the development of a growth mindset. Fostering strong social and emotional skills now will prepare them to succeed academically in the future.
We believe that parents are partners in their child's education. We provide regular communication, field trip opportunites, parent-teacher conferences, and family events.
